Eiffel Peak
Lake Louise, Alberta
September 22, 2003
Distance: 10.9 km (6.8 mi)
Cumulative Elevation Gain: 1220 m (4003 ft)
Dinah and I joined the Hostel Outdoor Group to climb Eiffel Peak. Although it's not a challenging scramble, the views are breathtaking. Fall is the best time to go, but expect to find the trails crowded with tourists who come to see the larches changing colours.
The route begins at Moraine Lake and follows the Larch Valley trail. After reaching Larch Valley, leave the trail and start up the east ridge of Eiffel. The route then climbs up a scree gully that leads to the summit.
