Quartz Hill, North Summit
Banff National Park, Alberta
May 1, 1999

This is the most expensive snowshoe trip I've done: we bought chair lift tickets to take us up to Sunshine Meadows. After getting a lift we snowshoed up the south summit of Quartz Hill.

After leaving the chair we set off for Quartz Hill on the right

At first we gained very little elevation

Ptarmigan appears undisturbed by our presence, or too cold to move!
