Observation Peak (treeline)
Icefields Parkway, Banff, Alberta
December 8, 2001
Distance: 6.0 km (3.7 mi)
Cumulative Elevation Gain: 350 m (1148 ft)
A few of us from the Hostel Outdoor Group got together to snowshoe up the south slope of Observation Peak. After parking on Bow Pass, Rick led us up the mountain, first traversing south through the forest before ascending above the treeline. For our effort, and under azure skies, we were treated with clear views of Bow Lake and surrounding peaks. After taking a break on the open slope, we made our way directly back to our cars.
