Bow Summit
Icefields Parkway, Banff, Alberta
January 21, 2001
Distance: 5.3 km (3.3 mi)
Cumulative Elevation Gain: 184 m (604 ft)
Long before I was leading my own trips, I did trips with the Hostel Outdoor Group. Rick led the snowshoe trips, and I learned much from him. On a cloudy day, he took us to Bow Summit, a viewpoint overlooking Peyto Lake. Like many of Rick's snowshoe trips, the objective was vague or even lacking. In this case, we appeared to wander around.
Rick (far right) led us to Bow Summit
It looked feasible to climb higher up the ridge, but we never did

Stopping to regroup. Al and Elizabeth are far left. Vic holds his poles over his head. Next are Kirsten and Dinah . In the back are Rick (red jacket), Renata (dark blue) and Wayne (red). I don't recall the names of the others.
After the trip, we stopped in Lake Louise to see the ice sculptures
