Talus Lake
Kananaskis, Alberta
August 12, 2000

Writing this 24 years later, I remember little of this trip. However, photos and the description in Kananaskis Country Trail Guide help fill in the blanks. Back then, I was hiking with the Hostel Outdoor Group. We biked 7 km up Little Elbow Trail to Mount Romulus campground. After ditching our bikes at the campground, we hiked 5 km to the highest and largest of the two Talus Lakes. Spotting a large cave above the lake, we set hiked up the scree slope to investigate it, only to find it impossible to reach. We returned to the lake and lounged around before heading back.

Taking a break on the bridge. Left are Phil, Kirsten, and Debbie. I've forgotten the names of the other two.

This is as close as we got to the cave

We returned to the lake where some decided to test the waters
